The Enterprise docked at another planet and while Kirk took Spock with him to meet with dignitaries, Sulu took Uhura to see the sights. "The planet is known for their operas. Want to go and see one?" asked Sulu as he offered Uhura his arm.
She took it. "I'd love to. I assume you've already acquired the tickets?"
He held them up and she grinned. "That's my boy."
They headed to the opera house and took their seats. The lights dimmed and Uhura's breath hitched at the magnificent backdrop while the singing began. "Thank you for this, Sulu," she whispered.

After the opera finished, they wandered the streets, watching street performances. After a particularly terrible performance, Uhura turned away, her tight curls bouncing amidst her shoulders, and sighed. "I can see why he isn't singing in the opera house."
Sulu covered his laughter with a cough. "Be kind. He might end up famous someday."
"Perhaps. Centuries from now." Uhura shrugged and led Sulu towards an eatery. "He's nowhere near the level of the singers we saw tonight. Besides, I can sing a lot better."
Sulu arched an eyebrow. "That sounds like a challenge. I'll call the rest of the officers."

The officers assembled in the conference room with Sulu grinning at putting Uhura on the spot. She narrowed her eyes at him and fumed when his grin remained firmly in place. "Everyone wants to hear your beautiful singing voice, Uhura."
She tossed one last glare towards Sulu before breathing in. Then she began to sing. "The skies are green and glowing, where my heart is..."
Her voice was like warm honey, filling the room as she swayed. "...where my love eternally is waiting. Somewhere, beyond the stars, beyond Antares." She took a slight bow as everyone started clapping and cheering.
