It was midnight when Colin Creevey left the Gryffindor tower to
wander. He could not fall asleep and had debated whether going to the
dungeons to ask Professor Snape for a potion but realized he would
probably be taken and used as a potion ingredient if he bothered him,
so decided against it. The option of waiting for a slumber that would
not come to claim him was silly and he thought about what options
were left for him when he it hit him. He had seen Harry wander the
school whenever he could not sleep and, since Harry Potter was his
idol, decided he would do the same.
He walked down the darkened hallways, not taking any route in
particular. He never realized what the school looked like when
everyone was in bed. Colin briefly considered going back to the tower
to get his camera and take some night shots when he heard strange
noises coming from inside one of the rooms nearby.
The room in question was behind a gilded door and had ornamental
snakes around the edges. Colin pressed his ear against the door and
heard water splashing and distinct voices. Who could be up so late
taking a bath?
"Stop it!" Colin jumped back as he heard Harry yell out. His first
reaction was to burst inside but stopped himself. If the powerful
Harry Potter could not fight off his attacker, then how could he? He
inched closer, holding his wand in his fist. Maybe Harry would pull
off a fantastic break, and then Colin would feel incredibly stupid if
he barged in to rescue the Boy Who Lived just as he was freeing
himself.
"Have you had enough?" Colin nearly wet his pants then and there.
That was Professor Snape's voice! What was the professor doing to
Harry in the bathtub? Obviously, it had to be something evil and
wicked.
More splashing and then a bang sounded. Harry whimpered at what Colin
assumed was under some torture device. Poor, brave Harry! "Never,"
Harry's voice spat out. "I will never give into you, you greasy git."
Another bang rang out, this time sounding like something just awful
to Colin. "You have to, Mr. Potter. Sooner or later you'll have to
give in. It's only a matter of time before you crumble."
A few tense moments passed when Colin could hear nothing from the
other side of the door. He feared for Harry's life and just before he
worked his courage to barge in, he heard a moan. Harry's moan. A
splash. Heavy breathing. Water dripping to the floor.
"Say it," Snape murmured. "Say it and you can walk out of here with
no harm done."
"Says you." There were sounds of muffled noises before Colin heard
Harry sigh. "Alright, alright...yes."
Yes? What was Harry saying yes to? Colin had no time to think what
that meant as the door began to open and he raced down the corridor
towards the tower. Tomorrow, he would figure it out.
Tomorrow came and Colin sat himself on the left side of Harry during
breakfast. Staring at him with a critical eye, he assured himself
that Harry did not look abused or mishandled. Harry laughed at
Seamus' joke and lifted his hand to adjust his glasses when Colin
gasped. On Harry's finger was a gold ring with a single emerald jewel
on it, surrounded by tiny rubies.
Colin's eyes quickly shifted to the head table and spotted Professor
Snape. There. He could barely make out a gold ring on his hand,
single ruby jewel surrounded by tiny emeralds, but it was there.
"Colin, are you okay? You look pale." He looked back and saw that
Harry had a look of concern on his face. Colin forced himself to
smile.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Just bit into something unexpected."
Harry nodded and turned back to his conversation with Seamus. Colin
slumped in his chair and nodded to himself. Yes.
