Author's Notes: This is a Marcus/Katie fic. If this does not float your boat, please leave. This fic was written for the first wave of United-Meant To Be fest. Challenge: 63. Katie plays one on one Quidditch with Marcus.
This wasn't the first time Katie met Marcus in the abandoned and out of the way hut on the far side of the castle. And it certainly would not be the last, if Katie had any say in things. Reaching for the wooden door, she slowly opened it and entered.
Marcus was already waiting for her. He said no words, but she knew what he was thinking. Did anyone know where she was?
No.
It was not as if anyone would actually believe that the captain of the Slytherin Quidditch team would ever be with a Chaser from the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Or any Gryffindor, for that matter. But it was better to be safe than sorry, and Katie was a firm believer in being safe.
Marcus Flint was safe.
The affair first started when Katie had decided to take a quick flight around the Quidditch pitch the day before a game. She thought she was the only there, but she was wrong. Marcus was already in the air with a Quaffle tucked under his arm. Before she could leave, he spotted her and threw the Quaffle in her direction.
Instincts flaring, she caught the red ball and raced towards the end of the pitch. Hearing Marcus catching up behind her, Katie threw the ball into one of the three large hoops and scored.
"Nice job, Bell." Marcus flew next to her and smirked with his troll teeth slightly showing. "Two out of three?"
"I'm sorry," she said curtly, hands clenching the handle of her broom. "I don't associate with Slytherins." Katie tried to fly around him, but everywhere she went, Marcus blocked her path.
"Trying to run away? I thought Gryffindors were better than that, Bell. Or perhaps you're just afraid I'll pummel you to the ground? I have always been a better Chaser than you, Bell."
Katie's eye twitched and she swooped down to pick up the forgotten Quaffle. "Fine. Let's play."
And play they did. To this day, Katie still did not know who won; only that at the end of the game, she was flat on her back with Marcus sticking his tongue down her throat. One would expect that she would have pushed him off of her and ran away. Instead, she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him in closer.
Katie closed the door behind her and pressed herself against Marcus as his lips found hers. A few hours of pleasure and none would be the wiser. The arrangement was exactly how Katie liked it.
It was the day after the Gryffindor/Slytherin Quidditch match and the Gryffindors had won again. Harry had caught the Snitch five minutes into the game, before any team's Chasers could score a point. Katie played with her blonde strands. There was not much of a point for Chasers to belong on a team if Harry was a fantastic Seeker.
"Dreary game." Katie did not have to turn around to know Marcus was behind her. "I see you got just as much action as I did, which is basically none."
"Harry's a very talented Seeker. Draco will never be half as good as him."
"Ah yes, Harry Potter. You know he's been sleeping with Snape for over a month now. It's the joke of Slytherin, but Snape dislikes us mentioning it. The last person who did winded up with two weeks worth of punishment in the Forbidden Forest." Marcus sat next to Katie. "I say he's madly in love with Potter. Don't know why. He's nothing to fly home to."
"I? never knew that. I don't think anyone in Gryffindor knows that." She fell silent.
"Yeah, Snape would not want that information spread throughout the school. The only reason why we know is careless Potter had left the door open during one of their lovemaking sessions. Kinda hard to ignore the cries of one's Head of House screaming out Potter's name."
"I guess." Not that Katie wanted anyone else to know about this little affair. What Harry did in his private life was his own business, though she briefly wondered how he ended up with Professor Snape, and the same went with her. It was nobody's business what she did.
"Good thing no one knows about us then."
"Of course."
When Katie said nothing further, Marcus slowly got to his feet. "Right then. Same time tomorrow?"
Katie nodded and heard the footsteps of Marcus leaving the bleachers. Her heart relaxed as he disappeared. He almost became at that moment...unsafe.
