Author's Notes: Jared and Jensen's first date. Part of the Moving At Lightspeed Into Eternity verse. Masterpost with chronological order here.
Jared checked his list one more time before dropping it on his desk. Jensen had told him that he wanted to be his boyfriend, to date exclusively, but Jared had never dated anyone before. He didn't know what being a boyfriend meant, especially for someone like Jensen.
He had researched about dating on the internet, and found some pretty hinky things in the process, but it wasn't enough. He just didn't have enough data. He sighed and fell back on his bed. Jensen had given him a golden opportunity and he wasn't going to squander it due to some stupid or careless mistake on his part.
There was a brief knock on his door and Jared sat up just as it opened. "Jensen!"
His boyfriend looked beautiful. He had on a green polo shirt and khaki slacks with his over the shoulder bag. Jared's mouth watered at the sight of him. Jensen closed the door and climbed into bed next to Jared. He gave Jared a brief kiss before grinning. "Hi, baby. Just got out of class and I'm starving. Did you want to come to the cafeteria and grab something with me?"
"Y-Yeah. I'd love to. Let me take a shower and get dressed, okay? I look and smell like a pig." He did. He didn't have classes that day, so all he had on was his ratty shirt and the boxers he slept in.
Jensen purred and leaned in close to take a long sniff along Jared's neck. The motion made Jared shudder and he placed his hands on Jensen's waist. "You smell delicious, baby. Just put some pants on and let's go."
Jared laughed nervously, but the happy light in Jensen's eyes were honest. Not mocking. "Okay. I can do that. You sure I don't stink? I haven't showered all day and I'm usually pretty rank."
Just as Jared was about to get up, Jensen let out a delighted laugh and tapped the front of Jared's boxers. No, not his boxers. Jared looked down and saw that the head of his cock had slipped through the opening of his boxers and Jensen was tapping his finger right on the slit.
"You're such a big boy. How did I ever luck out, hrm?" Jensen began sliding his finger through the pre-come leaking out of Jared's slit. "I know I said I was hungry, but I think I can wait long enough for you to fuck my brains out."
"R-Right now?" They've only had sex a few times since they got together and Jared was always surprised that Jensen wanted him sexually.
Jensen lifted his finger to his mouth to sample Jared's pre-come. "You taste so good. I can't wait to get tested and you can fuck me raw."
"R-Raw?" Jared shook his head to clear his thoughts. "Maybe I should get tested too. I know you're my first, but just in case." He bit his lip. "I'm not insinuating anything, but I would hate to pass anything back to you."
Jensen laughed and kissed Jared, his tongue briefly slipping into Jared's mouth. "You're adorable. Okay, we'll both go and get tested together later this week. Now go change."
Jared got off the bed while Jensen grabbed a pillow and tucked it under his arms. "I don't know why you think you stink. I happen to love how you smell."
Jared pulled his shirt over his head and began to dig in his closet for something clean. "If you say so, Jen."
"I know so. I'm the boyfriend, remember? I'm always right."
Boyfriend. Jensen was his boyfriend. Jared couldn't help but smile at that.
Once Jared got dressed, they left Jared's dorm room and headed to the cafeteria. Jensen nudged Jared towards the salad bar and Jared changed his direction. "You know, if you're really that worried, we can go shopping at the mall this weekend and buy you some cologne."
Jared perked up at the mention of a mall. Malls meant dates. Dates were a sign of being a good boyfriend. "Like a date?" he asked, trying to seem as casual as he possibly could be.
"Sure, we could grab some lunch and watch a movie." Jensen glanced back at Jared with a mischievous grin. "Our first date. I can't wait to see your sexy moves."
Jared let out a nervous laugh and lifted his arm to scratch the back of his neck. "I have no sexy moves, Jen. I'm really kind of pathetic in case you haven't heard."
"Nope, I refuse to believe it. I wouldn't be dating you if you I thought you were pathetic." Jared focused on grabbing a clean plate for Jensen and himself instead of looking at Jensen. He highly suspected there would be a skeptic look on his face. "I haven't been on a date in ages. My last date was in high school and it was a real bore. Finally had to blow the guy in his pick-up truck to make it even remotely exciting."
Jared's hand began to tremble as he held a ladle to scoop up some corn onto his plate. He knew Jensen had slept with men before him, slept with many men on numerous occasions. He'd seen it up close and personal, so hearing about Jensen's last date shouldn't upset him as much as it was currently doing.
"Baby?" Jensen reached over and took the ladle out of Jared's hand. "I don't think the cafeteria people will like it if the corn is mashed up."
"What? Oh, sorry. Just thinking. How's this, you pick the movie we'll watch and I'll do the rest. Okay? My treat."
"Sure." They got their food and paid for it before heading towards some empty tables.
Just as they sat down, Jensen's name was called out and they turned to look at the direction where it was coming from. Sandy was the captain of Jensen's squad. She was a sweet and petite woman with a penchant for cursing up a storm in Tagalog, something Jensen mentioned that Sandy had learned from her Filipina aunts.
Sandy closed the distance between them as she grinned at Jensen. "Hey, Jensen. Don't forget the emergency practice at three. Milo broke his arm last night so we need to rearrange the choreography to work without him."
Jensen nodded. "Not a problem. Oh, Sandy, have you met my boyfriend yet? This is Jared."
Sandy looked at Jared and smiled warmly at him. "So this is the famous Jared. Jensen's been talking a lot about you to the rest of the squad. Can't shut up about you really."
Jensen laughed and nudged Sandy with his shoulder. "Hush. You're not allowed to scare him."
Jared didn't know what to say as Sandy and Jensen continued to lightly rib each other with their jokes. It was obvious they were close and Jared knew he didn't fit into their tight world of cheerleading. Then Jensen reached for Jared's hand and squeezed it tight while continuing to chat with Sandy. Jared felt better from the touch, knowing that he was still on Jensen's mind even while he talked to Sandy.
"Well, I better get back to my lunch before Kal eats it all." Sandy waved to Jared. "It was nice meeting you, Jared. You should come by during our practices so you can meet the rest of the squad."
"O-Okay. I can do that. Bye, Sandy." As Sandy walked away, Jensen squeezed Jared's hand once more and pulled back his hand so he could begin digging into his food. Jared picked up his own fork. "You talk about me to your squad?"
"Of course." Jensen's voice was matter of fact. "You're my first boyfriend and I'm proud to date you. Why wouldn't I talk about you?"
Jared stared down at his food with no answer to Jensen's question. Perhaps this was one of the things about dating that he still needed to find answers for.

On the day of their first date, Jared showered and dressed in the finest clothes he had, which weren't that great, but judging by the look in Jensen's eyes, they were good enough.
"You sure you want to go to the mall today? Because we could stay in your dorm room and have lots of crazy and fun sex."
"I'm sure," Jared said firmly. They could have sex anytime they wanted, and while Jared always wanted to have sex with Jensen, he also wanted to be a good boyfriend and take Jensen out on dates.
"Okay." Jensen dangled his car keys in front of Jared. "Did you want to drive or shall I? I vote for you driving so I can fondle you during the ride there."
Jared took the keys with a gulp. "Just as long as I don't drive us off the road, Jen."
"You won't." Jensen held Jared's hand as they left the dorm room.
Jared had researched every shop within the mall along with the information he knew about Jensen in order to maximize the fun levels he and Jensen could have. He just hoped it would work. He parked Jensen's car in an empty space inside the parking structure of the mall and they headed inside.
"I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of creating a schedule for our date." Jared dug the folded piece of paper out of his back pocket and handed it to Jensen.
Jensen unfolded the paper and laughed with delight when he read the schedule. "Oh, baby, you're just perfect. You did all this?"
"I wanted to make our date special. Does everything look okay to you?"
"It looks wonderful." Jensen kissed Jared on the cheek and handed him back the paper. "I love you so much. Okay, so first thing on the list was purchasing tickets for the five o'clock and then a light lunch, correct?"
"That's right. I know you enjoy Tex Mex so we can go to the food court and eat there. Did you decide on what movie you wanted to watch?"
"There's a new comedy that came out last week. I want to watch that."
Jared didn't know which movie Jensen was talking about, but he didn't care. He would watch anything Jensen wanted, just as long as Jensen was right there beside him. Jared slung his arm across Jensen's shoulder as they walked through the mall.
Jared recognized a few people in the crowd that went to their college, and noted their double take when they saw Jared walking side by side with Jensen, touching Jensen. He felt somewhat awkward and yet filled with pride at their looks. He had always been the geek or the person most people ignored when they weren't sending him dirty looks for being so smart. He knew he would never be cool, and he honestly didn't want to be, but it was a refreshing change of pace to receive looks of respect and second guessing.
Jared turned his head to press a kiss to the top of Jensen's head. "I love you, Jen. I want to take you everywhere and show you off."
"I'd like that too." Jensen leaned his head against Jared's shoulder. "I might as well let you know that I'd do anything for you, baby. Anything at all. You're the first guy I've ever wanted to have a relationship with and I don't want to mess this up."
Jensen wasn't just talking sexually, though Jared knew Jensen meant that too. He was talking about everything else, the important things. Jared squeezed Jensen's shoulders and something tight inside of him loosened. He wasn't going to lose Jensen because he didn't know how to date or how to be a typical boyfriend. He just had to love Jensen, and that was something Jared had been doing for a very long time.
