Author's Notes: Jensen meets Jared's parents. Part of the Moving At Lightspeed Into Eternity verse. Masterpost with chronological order here.
Jared hated Thursdays. He didn't always hate Thursdays, and it was more like a disliking, but a few weeks ago, his mother had decided that Thursdays were mandatory days for Jared to call home and report what'd been going on with his life.
For most of the calls, there had been nothing noteworthy to report. He always got top grades for his classes and as much as his mother loved him, she wasn't that interested in hearing about how exciting the latest whatever book he was reading.
There was one thing, however, that Jared hadn't told his mother about, and that was his relationship with Jensen. It wasn't that his parents would be upset or disappointed to know he was gay, they'd known that fact since he was in middle school. But this was his first relationship and his parents would know how important it was. How important Jensen was to him and how badly he didn't want to mess this up. Telling his parents that was going to be a big hurdle because it felt too personal to share with anyone else.
He was never very good at sharing.
He took a deep breath, picked up his cell phone, and punched in his parents' number. His mother answered on the second ring.
"JT, honey! How've you been?"
"I've been good, mama." Jared found himself beginning to pace. "Classes have been same old, same old. I'm getting straight As."
"Have you made any new friends?" It was a question his mother always asked and Jared always had the same answer for her. No.
And there was his opening. He took a deep breath. "Mama, I have something to tell you. I have a boyfriend."
His mother was quiet for a moment. "Oh, JT." He could hear her sniffling over the phone.
"Mama. A-Are you mad at me?"
"No, honey, I'm not mad at you. I'm just thrilled you found someone. Is it serious? Is he a nice boy? Tell me about him."
"I think it's serious. His name is Jensen Ackles and he's a cheerleader at school. We've been dating for a few weeks. I love him, mama."
"That's wonderful to hear! Oh, I wanted to tell you that your father and I are flying up next week for one of his conferences and we'll be able to see you. Now we can also see your boyfriend. Jensen, was it? We'll have to invite him to dinner so we can meet him."
"I'll have to ask him to see if he's busy or not, but we can do that."
"Good!" As his mother began chatting on about life at home, Jared fretted. His parents wanted to meet Jensen. That was just asking for complications and possible bad news.

Jared found Jensen at the quad, surrounded by the rest of his squad. He had Sandy up on his shoulders while Jessica demonstrated a new move. Jared hung back until the practice ended with a clap of Sandy's hands. He stepped forward, lifting his hand to catch Jensen's attention.
Jensen cartwheeled towards Jared, landing on his feet with a laugh. "Sorry, couldn't help it. Hi, baby. What are you doing here? I thought we were going to meet at my room for lunch?"
"We were. Are. Um, think we can talk alone?"
The happy look on Jensen's dissipate and he jerked his head in an affirmative motion. "Yeah, baby. Let me grab my bag and say bye to the girls."
Jared reached out and grabbed Jensen's arm before Jensen could move. "I don't. Jensen. I'm not dumping you. It's nothing like that."
Jensen let out a nervous laugh. "Sorry. Uh, never mind. I'll go grab my stuff."
Jensen did so and they began walking towards Jensen's dorm. Despite Jared telling him that they weren't breaking up, Jensen still looked as if he was bracing himself for bad news. Jared didn't like seeing that look on him. Jensen shouldn't ever have anything to fear from him.
He reached for Jensen's hand, squeezing it tight when Jensen looked at him. "I finally told my mama about you. She and my dad are flying up next weekend and want to have dinner with the two of us. Do you want to go? I'll understand if you say no."
Jensen let out a relieved sigh. "I'll go. I'd love to meet your parents." Jensen kissed his cheek. "Stop fretting. It'll be fine."
"I know that intellectually, but what if something goes wrong?"
"It won't. If it'll make you feel any better, you could come up with potential scenarios and ways to salvage them."
Jared blinked and his mouth dropped open. "I didn't think of that, but yeah. I could do that." They continued walking for a few minutes before Jared spoke up. "Why were you acting oddly earlier?"
There was a tightness to the set of Jensen's shoulders that Jared immediately wanted to take back his words. Why was he such a bad boyfriend? "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. Forget I ever mentioned anything," he said.
Jensen shook his head. "No, it's okay. I was just being foolish. Kal was messing around, saying stupid shit and it started getting into my head."
"What was he saying?"
"Stupid shit, about you and me." He shrugged. "It was nothing."
It wasn't, Jared could see that clearly on Jensen's face, but he didn't want to push. Jared pressed a kiss against Jensen's forehead and squeezed his hand once more.
"Where did you want to go to have lunch?" Jared asked.
"Hmm, I've been craving gyros for days. Do you know where's the best place for Greek food?"
Jared dug his phone from his pocket and began checking the internet. "There's a place a couple of blocks away from campus we could go."
"Good. Then let's go there after I drop off my bag in my room."

This was the first time Jared had eaten a gyro, let alone Greek food. It tasted good, but Jared much preferred the way Jensen's eyes lit up as he fed bits of food to Jared.
Jensen reached for his glass of water and took a sip. "Tell me about your parents. What are they like?"
Jared also took a drink of his water. "They're nice. My dad's a physicist and my mama's an English teacher. They live in San Antonio with my little sister. My mama's been waiting for this day for a long time so she may be over exuberant over meeting you."
Jensen grinned. "Is that so? Tell me more, baby."
"Like you didn't already know you're my first boyfriend," Jared muttered as Jensen chuckled. "I think you'll like my parents though. I know they will love you. Everyone loves you."
"I hope so. I don't want to make a fool of myself in front of your parents."
"You won't, I promise. They are very easy going people."
To ease Jensen's worries, Jared stuffed the rest of his gyro into his mouth. He laughed and leaned over the table to poke at Jared's puffed cheeks.

Next week arrived and despite Jared creating scenarios of potential ways things could go wrong on his computer, including an abrupt zombie apocalypse, Jared was still worried. Maybe there was a scenario he didn't figure out and it would happen while Jensen and him were having dinner with his parents.
"Stop it. I can hear you over thinking from here," Jensen said from Jared's bed. Jared swung his chair around to see Jensen lying on his chest as he flipped through a magazine with his legs dangling in the air. "You need to relax."
"But what if something goes wrong?"
Jensen sat up in the middle of the bed and patted the space between his legs. "Come here, baby. Let me help you."
Jared stumbled out of his chair and did as Jensen wanted. Jensen placed his hands on Jared's shoulders and began massaging him. It felt good and Jared moaned in appreciation.
"You like that? Let me work out all your tension." Jensen purred the words in Jared's ears and soon Jared had a different tension going on in his body. He didn't know how to ask without sounding like an idiot.
"Jensen," he began.
Jensen nipped at Jared's neck while he trailed his hand down to cup Jared's crotch. "Someone's getting excited. Do you want me to help you with that as well, baby?"
"Guh," said Jared as Jensen gently squeezed his cock through his jeans.
Jensen proceeded to 'help' him and Jared found himself buried inside his boyfriend, staring intently as his cock sliding inside of Jensen's hole. It didn't matter how many times they've had sex, it was still new and thrilling like the first time they'd done this.
He knew it was corny, but Jared just wanted to stay inside Jensen forever.
It must have been that thought that caused the both of them to run late for dinner because one moment they had hours to prepare and the next, it was thirty minutes before they were supposed to meet his parents at the restaurant and they smelled like sex.
They dashed off to the bathroom to shower, each in their own stalls because Jensen was distracting and Jared couldn't keep his hands off a wet and naked Jensen, before shoving their clothes on. Jensen styled his hair in the mirror while Jared sprayed on cologne.
They made it to the restaurant with five minutes to spare and Jared placed his hand on Jensen's lower back as he led them inside. He saw his parents at a booth by the window while his mother spotted them in that moment.
She stood up and embraced both of them, leaving smacking kisses on their cheeks. "Oh, you must be Jensen. You're so handsome. I'm so happy to have finally met you."
"Pleasure to meet you, ma'am," Jensen said as they took their seats. "Jared's told me so much about you two."
Jared's mother grinned and nudged her husband with her elbow. "Hear that? Ma'am. Jared, your boyfriend is so polite!"
Their waiter arrived and after putting in their orders, Jared's mother turned her attention back to the boys.
"Jared wasn't very forthcoming about your relationship over the phone. How did the two of you meet?"
Jared gulped and grabbed his glass of water. He had no idea what Jensen was going to say. He hoped Jensen would lie about how they really got together because he didn't want his mother to find out that Jensen was drunk and Jared was desperate the first night they had sex.
Jensen smiled and patted Jared's hand. "Jared was such a gentleman. I was feeling under the weather one night after cheerleading practice and he helped me back to my dorm room. He took care of me and stayed the entire night. He was so sweet that I couldn't help but fall in love."
It sounded real enough that Jared was halfway convinced what Jensen said was the truth. His parents looked convinced and Jared could have sworn his mother made some kind of cooing noise.
"You know," Jared's father began. "I never thought our boy would find someone, especially one as good looking as yourself, Jensen. He's always been socially awkward."
Jensen gave a little shrug and smiled at Jared. "He's never been awkward around me. I find everything he does sweet."
Jared's mother beamed. "My boy's always been sweet. Tell me about yourself, Jensen."
"I'm on a full ride scholarship to school for cheerleading though I'm currently undeclared because I'm not quite sure what to do with myself." Jensen let out a chuckle. "Two years of college and I'm still unsure."
Jared blinked. "Two?"
Jensen turned to Jared and gave him an apologetic shrug. "I'm, uh, a couple of years older than you, baby. I slacked the first year I was here."
Jared didn't care and he kissed Jensen to let him know that.
"There's nothing wrong with that, Jensen," Jared's father said as they broke apart. "As long as you're applying yourself now. I bet Jared helps you with your homework."
Jensen nodded. "He does. I love how smart he is. He obviously got that from the two of you."
The rest of the dinner continued with Jensen charming Jared's parents and Jared standing by watching his boyfriend at work. He barely had to put in any input as Jensen spoke for the both of them and Jensen always had the right thing to say.
Jensen even offered to pay half the bill, though Jared's father refused to let him do that.
"Our treat, Jensen," said his father.
As Jared's mother hugged them, she whispered into Jared's ear. "I like him. This one's a keeper, Jared."
"I know, mama. I know."
Jensen turned to Jared after his parents left and gave him a kiss. "See, I told you. That wasn't so bad. Dinner went well and everyone's safe and sound. No zombie apocalypse tonight."
"I don't know, having zombies around might have been okay. So, uh, I'm dating an older man. You don't look old." Jensen threw his head back and laughed as Jared fidgeted. Maybe that wasn't the right thing to say.
"You're adorable. I'll show you old when we get back to your dorm room." Jensen licked his lips and Jared could only imagine the naughty things Jensen wanted to do to him. "You know what I love about younger guys? Their stamina."
Jared grinned and took Jensen's hand. He was going to show Jensen exactly how much stamina he had.
